CAPACITORS
Types of capacitors manufactured by Vishay include tantalum (both solid and wet), ceramic (both multilayer chip and disk), film, power, heavy-current, and alumninum. Vishay is the number one manufacturer worldwide of wet and conformal-coated tantalum capacitors, as well as capacitors for power electronics. Vishay is also one of the largest manufacturers of molded tantalum surface-mount capacitors.
CAPACITORS - ALUMINUM ELECTROLYTIC
Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors provide a smaller capacitor option when high power ratings and high capacitance values are needed. Vishay offers a broad choice of aluminum capacitors, as well as the product support necessary to specify the ideal products for automotive, medical, alternative energy, and other high-demand applications.
CAPACITORS - CERAMIC
Ceramic is commonly used dielectric material that can improve capacitor power dissipation. Vishay offers both multi-layer and single-layer capacitors in a wide range of form factors and complements these offerings with a number of devices that are optimized for specific applications, including board-flex resistant devices and the HVArc Guard® MLCCs, which are designed to prevent surface arc-over in high-voltage applications.
CAPACITORS - ENERGY STORAGE
Vishay's energy storage capacitors include double-layer capacitors (196 DLC) and products from the ENYCAP™ series (196 HVC and 220 EDLC). Both series provides high capacity and high energy density.
CAPACITORS - FILM
Vishay's film capacitors assist energy conversion while providing low losses, high efficiency, and long life.
CAPACITORS - POLYMER
Polymer capacitors feature a hight volumetric efficiency that allows smaller devices to have higher capacitance values. Vishay offers polymer capacitors in a variety of surface-mount case sizes for applications such as military, portable consumer, computer/ server, network infrastracture equipment, and many others.
Polymer capacitors are constructed with a highly conductive polymer as the cathode system. For the anode, tantanum is used together with tantalum oxide dielectric. This construction gives polymer capacitors all the advantages of traditional tantalum capacitors while reducing equivalent series resistance (ESR) and eliminating manganese dioxide, which is a source of catastrophic failure in tranditional tantalum capacitors.
CAPACITORS - POWER - HEAVY CURRENT (ESTA)
Vishay ESTA is one of the few manufacturers to offer a complete range of power capacitors. These cost-effective devices for harmonic control, energy savings, and voltage stabilization are highly reliable and environmentally safe, and can be used under the most rugged conditions. Vishay ESTA power capacitors address a wide range of energy-generation applications. Their “green” applications include energy generation in on- and off-shore wind turbines and solar power plants.
Vishay ESTA power capacitors are used in energy transmission and distribution in high, medium, and low-voltage networks to improve network quality. Their efficient operation helps promote CO2 reduction as well as reducing losses in long-distance HVDC transmissions. The power capacitors are also used for RFI filters and voltage and frequency converters in traction and industrial drives.

CAPACITORS - TANTALUM
Tantalum powder is used in capacitors to allow for a very thin dielectric layer, providing high capacitance values in smaller case sizes. Vishay offers surface mount and through-hole tantalum capacitors for use in automotive, military, portable consumer, medical and many other applications.
CAPACITORS - THIN FILM
Vishay's thin film capacitors include wire bondable single-value, binary and bar MOS, and surface-mount RF capacitors.
